Children's Homes

There are six homes, each with a house mother, caring for 6 to 8 children.

In the Eastern Province of South Africa, there are approximately 800,000 children without parents and a good home. Children who need a home are referred to Xhosa Gospel Mission (XGM) by the local welfare authorities. Each of the XGM children's homes has a house mother and currently six to seven (some up to eight) children, to develop a family-style unit. Each house mother has an assistant who can substitute and care for the children when needed. Currently we have six homes and about forty children. XGM provides each child individual care, good nutrition, Christian education, and general schooling. Click here to sponsor a child.

During the last six years of operation, the Xhosa Gospel Mission has been privileged to build and establish three homes both in Amalinda Forest and in Scenery Park townships. These six homes now provide a safe and stable environment for about 40 children ranging in ages from a few months to 18 years.

It is a wonderful time to reflect and celebrate on what God has done within the homes and the surrounding community.
